Market Day Continues — and Our Young Entrepreneurs Finish Strong
Following the successful first Market Day on 28 August, Manzolwandle Primary School’s Grade 7 EMS project continued through three more exciting days of trading, learning, teamwork and school-wide support.
🌿 From a Successful Beginning to a Memorable Finale
After the exciting success of Day 1, the Grade 7 Economic and Management Sciences Market Day continued on Monday, 31 August 2026, followed by Day 3 on Tuesday, 1 September, before reaching its final day on Wednesday, 2 September 2026.
Across the four Market Days, more learner-run stores were given their opportunity to trade, interact with customers and experience the realities of running a small business. Learners were not simply completing a classroom project — they were practising entrepreneurship in a real school environment.
🌸 The Journey After Day 1
Each additional day gave another group of Grade 7 learners the chance to take their turn as entrepreneurs while the wider Manzolwandle school community continued to support them.

Market Day returned after the weekend with renewed excitement. New learner businesses took their turn, welcoming customers and putting their planning, teamwork and sales skills into action.
Tuesday, 1 September 2026
The entrepreneurial spirit continued as more learners experienced the challenges and rewards of running their own mini stores while classmates and staff continued supporting their efforts.

The final Market Day brought the project to a memorable close. After four trading days, Grade 7 learners could look back on an EMS project filled with practical learning, responsibility and enjoyment.
📸 More Moments From Our Market Day Project
Our photographs capture some of the stores, learners, products and moments that made the four-day project special.
🌱 The Classroom Became a Marketplace
The real value of Market Day was not simply in selling products. It was in giving learners an opportunity to practise the concepts, skills and attitudes that EMS seeks to develop.
💚 A Success Made Possible by Many Hands
A project of this nature succeeds because a whole school community chooses to support its learners. Manzolwandle Primary School therefore extends sincere appreciation to everyone who helped make all four Market Days possible.
To Our Parents and Families
Thank you for the contributions, preparation, encouragement and practical support you gave your children. Many of the products, materials and preparations learners needed were made possible because families were willing to support the project from home.
To Our Learners and Customers
Thank you to the learners who supported the Grade 7 businesses by purchasing products, encouraging their schoolmates and participating in the excitement of Market Day. Your support gave our young entrepreneurs real customers to serve.
To Our Teachers
Thank you to the educators who assisted, supervised, guided and encouraged learners throughout the project. Your support helped turn an EMS assessment into a safe, organised and meaningful learning experience.
To the Whole School Community
Thank you to everyone who helped create the joyful atmosphere surrounding Market Day. The willingness of staff and learners to participate showed what can happen when a school community supports practical learning together.
Leadership and Guidance Behind the Project
We also acknowledge the guidance and support of the Manzolwandle Primary School management team, led by our Principal, Mr CT Langa, together with the school’s Departmental Heads and wider management structure.
Their leadership, oversight and support create the environment in which teachers are able to organise meaningful learning opportunities such as Market Day and learners are encouraged to take what they learn in the classroom and apply it in practical situations.
Successful schools are built when leadership, teachers, parents and learners work towards the same purpose — giving children opportunities to learn, grow and discover what they are capable of doing.
Four Days, One Valuable Learning Experience
Looking back from the first Market Day through to the final trading day, the project demonstrated exactly why practical learning is so valuable. Learners were able to see that a business involves much more than simply selling something.
It requires planning, cooperation, responsibility, confidence, customer service, financial thinking and the ability to solve unexpected problems. These are lessons that can remain with learners long after the assessment has been completed.
🎉 Congratulations, Grade 7!
We congratulate all the Grade 7 learners who participated in the 2026 Term 3 EMS Market Day project. Whether they served customers, managed products, promoted their stores, handled money, helped their teams or stepped forward as leaders, every learner contributed to the experience.
Most importantly, our learners were given the opportunity to learn EMS by doing EMS.
Thank you once again to our parents, learners, teachers, school management and everyone who supported our young entrepreneurs from Day 1 until the final Market Day.
🌱 The stores may have closed, but the knowledge, confidence and experience gained will continue to grow.
