Manzolwandle Primary Learners Code of Conduct

Our school is a learning space where every child is protected, respected, and supported to succeed. This code helps us keep order, dignity, and a strong learning culture for a public township school.

DBE / SASA principle: A code of conduct must create โ€œa disciplined and purposeful school environmentโ€ focused on quality learning.

1) Uniform & Dress Code

Be proud โ€ข Be neat
  • Daily uniform (Monโ€“Thu): Powder-blue gown uniform Learners must wear the correct Manzolwandle uniform, clean and well-fitted.
  • Wednesdays: Change uniform White shirt + powder-blue skirt (girls). Boys follow the schoolโ€™s Wednesday uniform arrangement.
  • Fridays: PE kit Correct PE kit required. Takkies suitable for sport. No fashion clothing.
  • Grade R uniform Grade R wears the PE kit every day (comfortable and practical for learning through play).
  • Boysโ€™ uniform details White shirt, powder-blue tie with school badge, and grey pants. Shoes clean; socks neat.
Important: No jewellery allowed (including chains, earrings, bracelets, rings). No make-up. No nail polish. Any item worn against the rules may be safely kept by the school and returned to a parent/guardian.

3) Behaviour, Respect & Discipline

Ubuntu
  • Respect is not optional Respect educators, staff, visitors, and fellow learners at all timesโ€”class, corridors, toilets, and school grounds.
  • No bullying / intimidation No physical, verbal, emotional, or online bullying. Report bullying immediately to a teacher.
  • No swearing or hate speech Bad language, insults, discrimination, and threats are prohibited.
  • Classroom conduct Listen, participate, keep quiet during teaching, complete tasks, and allow everyone to learn.
  • Care for property No vandalism. Learners who damage property may be held responsible through parent engagement.
Restorative approach: Where possible, the school uses guidance, correction, and learning-focused consequences to improve behaviourโ€”while keeping everyone safe.

5) Hair, Grooming & Appearance

Neat & simple
  • Boysโ€™ hair Hair must be bald/short, neat and combed. No dreadlocks, No designs, lines, patterns, dyes, or styling.
  • Girlsโ€™ hair Hair must be neat. Girls may keep hair short/neat or braid hairโ€”no extensions and strictly no dreadlocks allowed.
  • No fashion accessories No jewellery, no expensive items, no trendy/unsafe accessories that distract from learning.
Why? Neat appearance supports discipline, equality, and learner safetyโ€”so everyone can focus on learning.

7) Additional Important Rules
